We continually strive to finding improved environmental practices and reducing our impact further. We currently use eco-friendly materials across majority of our products and packaging.

  • Hemp

We have a collection of hemp blend cushions made up of 55% hemp. Hemp fabrics are stronger, more absorbent, more durable, and better insulating than cotton. Furthermore, they don't stretch out of shape. This property makes hemp a perfect upholstery fabric because it can be pulled taut and remain taut throughout the life of the furniture. Watch this space to see what else we have up our sleeve with this fabrication!

  • Packaging

Yes, we have made the conscious effort to protect our environment by avoiding plastic in every area we can. Your order will either come in a compostable garment bag, cardboard box or naked packaging in it’s in a compostable mailer bag.

Satchels – We have chosen our postal satchels as they are 100% compostable, ensuring environmentally ethical sourcing and production. Our satchels also hold certifications which meet the Australian standards (AS5810 and AS4736) administered by the Australasian Bioplastics Australia (ABA). In a commercial compostable environment, it will break-down within 90 days. At home, it may take up to 120 days.

Garment bags – Don’t be fooled, these look like plastic, but they are far from it. Our garment poly bags are made from PBAT and PLA (fancy way of saying corn starch). They are also Australian certified home-compostable and industrially compostable.

Garment Tags  They’re made from 100% recycled paper and are recyclable. Some people collect their tags to include when re-selling or swapping their garments.

  • Recycled PET

Our newest Picnic Rugs are made from a 100% recycled PET canvas (plastic bottles), that's not only better for the environment but more durable, fade proof and water resistant. The production of recycled polyester requires far fewer resources than that of new fibers and generates fewer CO2 emissions it also means less plastics going to landfill and the ocean.

Over the last 8 years of crafting quality picnic accessories, we have tried and tested many different fabrics. Our fabric has been chosen for its durability in all climates.
