Your Summer Sangria Recipe

 What is Sangria?

Sangria is a popular alcoholic beverage, typically made with red or white wine, mixed with various fruits, sweeteners, and sometimes additional spirits. It is a refreshing and fruity drink that originated in Spain and has become a favorite in many parts of the world.

The basic ingredients of sangria typically include wine (usually red wine for traditional sangria or white wine for our fave variation), sliced or diced fruits such as oranges, lemons, limes, apples, and berries, sweeteners like sugar or honey, and often a splash of brandy, liqueur, or soda water. The mixture is typically chilled for several hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld together.

Sangria is a great choice when you want to make a simple cocktail, as it's easy to keep the ingredients in hand. We serve ours over ice and garnish with additional fruit slices or a sprig of mint. Sangria is amazing for outdoor gatherings, parties, and days under the sun with its fresh and fruity flavours.

Creating a refreshing white sangria is like crafting a symphony of summer flavors in a glass. This delightful Spanish drink is a perfect blend of white wine, crisp fruits, and a hint of sweetness.

Ingredients:

1 bottle of dry white wine (750 ml) - Opt for a crisp variety like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio
1/4 cup triple sec or white peach schnapps
1/4 cup simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water, dissolved)
1 lemon, thinly sliced
1 lime, thinly sliced
1 orange, thinly sliced
1 green apple, cored and sliced
1 cup of fresh white grapes, halved
1/2 cup of fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries)
Mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Sparkling water or lemon-lime soda for serving
Ice cubes

    Instructions:

Preparation: Begin by washing all your fruits thoroughly. Slice the lemon, lime, and orange into thin rounds, making sure they aren't too thick. Core and slice the green apple. Halve the white grapes, and wash the berries. Set these vibrant ingredients aside.

Mixing Fruits: In a large pitcher or bowl, combine the sliced fruits, halved grapes, and berries. The combination of colors and textures is part of what makes white sangria so visually appealing.

Liqueur and Sweetness: Pour the triple sec or white peach schnapps over the fruit medley. Then, add the simple syrup. To make the simple syrup, dissolve equal parts of sugar and water in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved. Let it cool before incorporating it into the pitcher.

Wine Addition: Gently pour the entire bottle of dry white wine over the fruit mixture. The choice of wine is crucial; opt for one with bright acidity and citrusy notes that complement the fruits.

Stir and Chill: Give the sangria a gentle stir to ensure all the ingredients harmonize. Cover the pitcher and place it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight. This allows the flavors to meld together, creating a symphony of tastes.

Serving: When you're ready to serve, fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the white sangria over the ice, filling the glass about two-thirds full. Include some of the fruit slices for a burst of flavor and a delightful visual appeal.

Fizzy Finish: If you desire a sparkling touch, top off the glass with sparkling water or lemon-lime soda. This effervescence adds a refreshing element to the sangria.

Garnish: For an extra touch of elegance and aroma, garnish the glass with a sprig of fresh mint. The aromatic mint complements the fruity and citrusy notes perfectly.

Enjoy: Raise your glass and savor the exquisite blend of white wine, citrus, and fruits. White sangria is a light and refreshing drink, perfect for warm summer days or any occasion that calls for celebration.

Making your own white sangria allows you to tailor the flavors to your liking, making it a personal and delightful experience. Enjoy responsibly!
